Illustration/graphics digi-pack: Gingerbread man

This panel was designed to go on one of the wings of the interior of the digi-pack.
Similar to the other wing, the only difference in design is the pattern. Closely, you can see the repeated drawing is gingerbread man, where as on the other wing is cupcakes. From apart, the look similar in size, scale and colour. Both repeated patterns.

I chose to do gingerbread men as they play apart in representation of my music video for the song 'cake'; they represent the couple being sung about in the song and the relationship. They also are seen through out the music video, notifying this on my mood board. The gingerbread can act as an 'Easter egg.'

Illustration Digi-pack: 'I'm not a piece of cake'

Using the idea of pattern, I decided to use text to produce this look. The white foreground image, over the same background of the other interior panels of my digi-pack, links all of the interior together. Using a phrase repeated over and over, instead of a figurative drawings makes this panel different to the other two- I decided to do this as it was planned for the centre panel and should be more attention grabbing.
The phrase repeated over and over is the lyrics 'I'm not a piece of cake' from the song 'Cake', the song I produced a music video for. These lyrics are apart of the chorus, making them more recognisable of the lyrics from the song; hence my choice of lyrics, as they are easier for the audience members to recognise and appreciate the design.
I over layered the text over a figurative line drawing of the house wife. As in my music video, I played on the representation of the lyrics, and constructed symbolism- the cake being a metaphor for the house wife's body, in a sexual attire.
The house wife was also on my mood board, a common aspect seen in my music video alike to the cake, cupcakes and record player. The house wife drawing acts as an 'Easter egg' for fans who have seen the music video to 'cake; the audience members more dedicated to buying digi-packs.
The figurative line drawing also connects with the other interior illustrations, however iv chosen the colour black to contrast against the white text and other panels. My choice for this, is to make the centre panel to be bolder, centring the inner design of my digi-pack.

Illustration/graphics for digi pack: Cake

This is a drawing produced on Photoshop, I plan to use this illustration on the outer skin of my digi pack. The colours are enticing, with the use of soft pinks that have connotations of calmness. The colours were also token from my mood board, duplicate of the colours in my music video, making the link more clear to the viewers.

The drawing of the cake, with a knife stabbed in is not only seen repeatedly in my music video ‘cake’, but is also one of the main representations to the song. It also gives an ‘edgy’ look, to have stabbed the soft cake, which is the similar representation and style that Melanie Martinez embodies. The outer skin of my digi pack is not only representation of the music video, but also the artist.

Inner pannel graphics

Inner panel graphics, left wing.

Produced on Photoshop, I drew one cupcake and repeated it, to produce a pattern.
The style in which I made the cupcakes is the same to the other inner panels- with  the use of figurative white lines. I also used the same background image, -also produced in Photoshop- that is used on the spine of my digi-pack and other illustrations in the interior. I did this to make my interior connecting, and used it on the spines to link it to the exterior of my digi-pack.

Digi-pack: Inner flat plan

My inner design of my flat plan Is much more simplified. On the left and right wing will be discs, with a larger illustration in the middle panel, centring the design. The inner panels alike to the outer panels will have illustrations- however the inside of my digi pack will have a different colour theme to the outer and different style of illustrations. This is to present the interior different to the exterior of my digi pack.
I have done a flat plan to guide me once my illustrations and text have been decided. When constructing my digi pack I can simply drag images, or copy text into the boxes, with the arrangement of size already being prepared. Which will allow me more time to do tweaks later on in my design.

Digi-pack: outer flat plan, further developed.

This is  the developed version of my outer skin digi-pack flat plan. I have decided what text will be used in the certain areas. This will make the construction of my digi-pack much quicker, as I know how I want my text to be laid out. And where my key conventions are layered out. However, I am yet to add placement of barcode and copyright regulations, due to not have produced my illustrations yet.

Feedback: digi pack mock design

I asked for audience feedback on my digi-pack mock design. The constructive criticism will be used to develop my digi-pack to a more finalised design.

Construction of animation

I created this animation to act as a title and representation for the song name and lyrics. linked to the idea of cake and icing. This is a of how I made my animation, which I later added into my music video.
